Me? Well, let me see…

I was raised along with my three brothers in a small town in the Florida panhandle. Mom died when we were little and Dad did one of the best jobs of single dadding I can think of (of course he had the help of our Grandma, Aunts, Uncles and cousins as well as our boy scout troop, churches and schools).

A short stint in a Junior College convinced me that I would never achieve that growth spurt and the NBA was simply a pipe dream. Concentrating on academics, I graduated a couple of years later and began writing software. Job changes and several relocations later, I find myself near the beaches in NW Florida. I’m lucky to have two grown, beautiful daughters with lives of their own as I prepare for the next chapter in my life, “retirement”.

It was somewhat of a surprise when my brother suggested we embark on this journey, and I’ll be forever grateful that I said yes!..

I’ve always loved stories, reading many authors. The fun you can have “spinning a tale” is like little else in this day and time (without being in politics ) Ever since we started this, it’s been fun, engaging and eye opening. I can’t thank my family enough. I love you all. None of this would have been possible without you.

Wanna know about me? Well, here’s the big fat skinny…

I was raised along with my three brothers in a small town in the Florida panhandle. Mom died when we were little and Dad did one of the best jobs of single dadding I can think of (of course he had the help of our Grandma, Aunts, Uncles and cousins as well as our boy scout troop, churches and schools).

Reading, music, acting and sports filled my teenage years and then I took off for college to get a theatre degree. After a few years in Atlanta, Georgia, I migrated north to Minneapolis, Minnesota in search of new opportunities performing and writing and have lived there ever since with my partner (now husband).

Creating this podcast with my family is like being home again, working with incredibly talented and creative siblings, sisters’ in law, nieces and nephews along with a sprinkling of great actor type friends makes me so very happy.

The idea to do this show (thanks Jerry!) came before the COVID-19 shutdown began, but when things stopped, it made a lot of sense to throw ourselves into this project completely and never look back at any doubts or insecurities that might be chasing us down the road.

“Space Croutons” is truly the sum of more than just its parts and what it has become is much bigger and better than any one of us could have done on our own.

I hope you enjoy this adventure as much as we have enjoyed bringing to life.

I grew up with five siblings in the piney woods of Northwest Florida.  As a child my hometown boasted of three small restaurants but over the years it has grown and now boasts of three restaurants of the same fast food chain and many others.  My family was active in church, school and community. I played lots of sports in high school and college and really enjoyed singing making it a point to participate in choral groups all throughout my life. After college, I began a career in public education and our family expanded to include four fantastic children of our own who have in turn enriched my life with many beautiful grandchildren.

I came into the Goodson clan when I started going steady with the third son while we were in ninth grade. After graduating from college, we married.  He was the science fiction fan in my life but I retained a little of what rubbed off of him and feel blessed to be a small part of and contributor to the Space Croutons Universe. I hope listeners will enjoy the stories at least half as much as I have enjoyed the process of creating them.

A short stint in Community College convinced me that I needed to grow up. Six years later, after an enlistment in the Navy, with a wife and some direction I re-entered college and completed a CS degree. Fast forward to the present, our kids are finishing college , my wife and I are more in love than ever, and I’m on the short list for retirement, when I realized I was missing something. My brothers for one thing, we live way too far apart, and a creative outlet for another.

I’ve always loved stories. And I have followed several podcasts over the last few years. After discussing one such podcast with family members on holiday I threw out the idea of writing our own. From that point family and friends have come together to help us nurture our endeavor and my thanks goes out to them. I love you all. None of this would have been possible without you.
